How co-op works

Up to four local mutants cross the same generated areas within one shared view. They choose different abilities, divide weapons and ammunition, collect radiation for mutations, and recover fallen teammates through Revive Chests while trying to reach the Throne together.

About this game

Nuclear Throne drops you into a world where humanity is long gone and only mutants remain, fighting through relentless waves of monsters to claim the legendary throne. This top-down roguelike shooter delivers true co-op action, letting two players blast through the wasteland together in fast-paced, bullet-hell chaos that rewards quick reflexes and smart positioning.

Each run throws procedurally generated levels, mutant characters with unique abilities, and a staggering arsenal of weapons at you. The action is punishing and immediate, with permanent death forcing you to start fresh every time. Co-op play amplifies the madness, as both players share the screen and must coordinate their movements, weapon choices, and mutation upgrades to survive the onslaught.

Nuclear Throne supports local couch co-op with split-screen and single-screen modes, plus Steam Remote Play Together for online sessions. Runs are short, intense, and built for repeated attempts, making it perfect for quick bursts of teamwork or marathon sessions where communication and shared learning become the key to pushing deeper into the irradiated ruins.
