How co-op works

Two-player online co-op exploration of an uncharted alien planet, cataloging creatures and resources together while upgrading equipment to reach new areas.

About this game

Journey to the Savage Planet casts players as explorers hired by Kindred Aerospace, a shoestring interstellar outfit that sends you to ARY-26 with minimal gear and no backup plan. Your mission is to scan the local ecosystem, determine if the planet is habitable, and survive whatever the vibrant wilderness throws at you. Online co-op lets two players tackle the entire expedition together.

Exploration centers on platforming, scanning alien lifeforms, and gathering materials to craft upgrades. New abilities unlock previously inaccessible zones, encouraging backtracking as your toolkit expands. Combat is frequent but light, relying on your starting pistol and environmental hazards to deal with hostile fauna. Communication helps coordinate scans and share discoveries across the map.

Progression is nonlinear, rewarding curiosity with hidden caches, upgrade blueprints, and lore fragments scattered throughout biomes. Sessions blend puzzle-solving, traversal challenges, and creature cataloging into a loop that sustains replay value as you uncover the planet's secrets alongside a partner.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I play the entire campaign in online co-op?

Yes, Journey to the Savage Planet supports online co-op for two players throughout the full expedition. You and a partner can explore ARY-26 together, scanning creatures, gathering resources, and unlocking new abilities as a team.

How important is communication with my co-op partner?

Communication is valuable for coordinating scans and sharing discoveries across the map. Since exploration is nonlinear and you'll be cataloging flora and fauna together, calling out interesting finds or puzzle solutions helps both players make the most of each session.

Does co-op work the same as solo, or are there separate missions?

Co-op covers the same content as solo play-there are no separate missions. Both players progress through the same nonlinear expedition, unlocking upgrades and abilities that open up new areas together.

Is the game more focused on combat or exploration?

Exploration is the main focus. You'll spend most of your time platforming, scanning alien lifeforms, and gathering materials to craft upgrades. Combat exists but stays light, using your basic pistol and environmental hazards against hostile creatures.
