How co-op works
Summoned allies help the host clear areas and defeat bosses using their own characters. World progression belongs to the host, and cooperation ends when the area's boss falls or the host dies.
About this game
Elden Ring is an open-world action RPG set in the Lands Between, where ruined castles, hidden dungeons, and formidable bosses shape your journey. You develop your character through different weapons, equipment, and spells, adapting your approach to each enemy and learning when to attack, defend, or dodge.

Cooperative play lets you summon other players to help with an area or boss in your world. Each guest brings their own character, allowing you to combine melee attacks and magic, draw an enemy's attention, and create openings for teammates. You can also offer your help in another player's world and earn rewards by assisting them.
These visits have limits: summoning is restricted by area, and Torrent and fast travel are unavailable during co-op. Progress through the host's world does not complete the same objectives in the guests' games. Multiplayer sessions also expose the group to invasions by hostile players, so playing with friends involves both cooperation against enemies and the possibility of defending the host against an invader.

Frequently Asked Questions
How many players can play Elden Ring in co-op, and how do they join?
The cooperative group supports three players: one host and up to two summoned allies. Guests place golden summon signs, which the host reveals with a Furlcalling Finger Remedy and interacts with to summon them. A shared multiplayer password helps friends find each other's signs.
Can we play the whole campaign together with shared progress?
The native co-op system uses separate summoning sessions with area restrictions. Guests earn rewards, but defeating a boss in the host's world does not defeat it in their own. To advance everyone's worlds, you need to take turns hosting and repeat the relevant encounters.
What happens when someone dies or the group defeats a boss?
If the host dies or the area's boss is defeated, the summoned allies return to their own worlds. A guest who dies also returns to their world and must be summoned again to rejoin. The native co-op system has no mechanic for reviving fallen players during combat.
Can we turn off invasions when playing co-op with friends?
No. Native co-op allows hostile players to invade, and a multiplayer password does not prevent this. The password filters summon signs so friends can find one another; it does not make the session private against invaders.
