How versus works
Up to four players share one screen in rotating hero and monster roles. When a monster kills the hero, that player takes the hero slot and continues the dungeon crawl, creating a competitive race to accumulate XP and challenge the final boss.
About this game
Crawl is a local multiplayer dungeon crawler built on competitive rotation. One player controls the hero exploring procedural rooms and battling creatures, while up to three friends possess traps, spirits, and monsters trying to kill them. Whoever lands the killing blow steals the hero role, demoting the former adventurer to the monster pool and resetting the race.

Monster players spend blood currency to summon tougher creatures, trigger environmental hazards, and sabotage the hero's progress. The hero collects loot and levels up with each successful room, but constant interference from friends keeps every run unpredictable. Positioning, timing, and smart use of abilities turn each encounter into a tactical fight for control.
The goal is to gain enough power to face the final boss. Only the current hero can attempt this fight, while the other players merge into a single multi-limbed boss creature to stop them. Victory ends the session, defeat throws the hero role back into play, and every match becomes a frantic race to secure that one decisive win.

How does the hero role switch between players?
Whoever kills the current hero takes their place and becomes the new adventurer. The dethroned hero joins the other players controlling monsters and traps for the rest of that life.
What do players control when they're not the hero?
Monster players possess traps, spirits, and creatures throughout the dungeon. You spend blood currency to summon tougher enemies, trigger environmental hazards, and sabotage the hero's progress as they move through rooms.
How does the final boss fight work?
Only the current hero can attempt the final boss when they've gained enough power. The other players don't control separate monsters-they merge together into one massive multi-limbed boss creature trying to stop the hero from winning.
Can we replay or do rematches after someone wins?
Yes. If the hero defeats the final boss, that session ends in victory for them. If the boss wins, the hero role goes back into play and the race continues. Each match is a contest to be the one who secures that final win.
